About this place
The spicy noodles come in graduated heat levels, making it tempting to try one step hotter next time. One diner who had the spicy mixed noodles singled out the chewy noodles and the flavour of the seared chashu. The regular, mildly spicy and very spicy options cost the same; the hotter “Shibaki” level is an additional 100 yen. You can start gently or take on more heat, with the options making it easy to order to your preference.
For a less fiery bowl, the shio ramen is described on the menu as balancing the depth of dashi with salt. Its dipping-noodle version, shio tsuke, comes in regular (1 portions of noodles), medium (1.5) and large (2.5); the large portion costs an extra 100 yen. There is also kara tsuke, the dipping-noodle version of the spicy ramen, with a choice of heat and noodle portion. Summer-only listings include shio and spicy mixed noodles served without broth.
Menya Dogenbozu is in Honcho, Nakano, Tokyo, and offers both dine-in and takeaway. Beer and highballs are also listed, giving diners the option of pairing a drink with their noodles at dinner.
